What can I expect from a psycho- educational assessment?

An individual psycho-educational assessment can determine what is causing your child’s learning, behavioral and social-emotional difficulties. It will provide practical recommendations in order to support your child at home and at school. We offer a wide variety of well-known American and British diagnostic tools to assess different aspect of a child/adolescent’s development such as: intellectual ability, written language, oral language skills, math skills, fine motor skills, social-emotional and behavioral skills.

What types of assessments do you offer?

There are different types of assessment: behavioral, social-emotional or academic difficulties.

What can I expect from a psycho-educational (academic) assessment?

A psycho-educational assessment is focused on your child’s learning needs. If you suspect that your child has a learning difficulty such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, then an academic assessment is recommended. This means that an IQ test and academic tests (e.g. language and math) are usually carried out to determine whether your child’s academic difficulties are caused by an underlying learning difficulty.

What can I expect from a psychological (social-emotional and/or behavioral) assessment?

A psycho-educational assessment is focused on your child’s social-emotional and/or behavioral needs. If you suspect that your child has underlying neuropsychological difficulty such as autism or ADHD, then a social-emotional and behavioral assessment is recommended. This means that social-emotional and behavioral tests are administered to determine whether your child’s social-emotional and behavioral difficulties are caused by an underlying neuropsychological difficulty.

On which age range does the psycho-educational assessment and psychological training focus?

The Clinical-Developmental Psychologist is trained to conduct psycho-educational assessments and psychotherapy with children and adolescents between the age of 4 and 18 years of age.
